Gianni Carluccio 

Gianni Carluccio - set and lighting designer

Gianni Carluccio graduated in 1981 in Set Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He began to work as set and costume designer in 1983. As designer he worked with directors such as Roberto Andò, Daniele Abbado, Walter Pagliaro and Moni Ovadia in the most important theaters in Italy such as Piccolo Teatro of Milan, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and many others. To his vast experience one can include productions such as: Wozzeck by Alban Berg performed for the opening of the new Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome; doublebill Il Prigioniero and Volo di notte by Luigi Dallapiccola, production that has won the prestigious Premio Abbiati in 2004. In 2013 he began his collaboration with the director Marco Bellocchio designing stage and lighting inUncle Vanja and Pagliacci. International experiences include the world premiere of Jr. Butterfly by S. Saegusa at the Bunka Kaykan Theater in Tokyo, and Così fan tutte at the Opera House of St. Paul, Minnesota, both with director Daniele Abbado.

He participated in exhibitions and variuos events, in particular he collaborated on the installation of Peter Greenaway and Robert Wilson in Milan and Lille. He also works regularly as Production Designer in Cinema. His recent engagements include: Akhnaten at the MiTo Festival; Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Pélleas et Mélisande (Daniele Abbado directing) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence; Attila for the opening night of the season at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo (Daniele Abbado directing). Future projects include: revivals of Attila at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and of Pélleas et Mélisande at the Teatro Regio in Turin.

Hubert Westkemper 

Hubert Westkemper - sounds designer

Born in 1953 in Frankfurt (Germany) he graduated in 1981 at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin as Sound Engineer (Tonmeister).  Since the early Eighties he lives and works in Italy, presently in Rome.

He dedicates the main part of his work to sound design for theatre productions, working with several Italian and international directors such as Gabriele Salvatores, Roberto Andò, Carlo Cecchi, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Mario Martone, Gerôme Savary, Bob Wilson, Peter Stein and Luca Ronconi, with whom he collaborated constantly since 1986. 

He worked in important institutions like Teatro alla Scala, Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Biennale of Venice, Festival of Spoleto, Festival of Salzburg.

In 2005 he won the Award of the National Association of Drama critics and the prestigious UBU Award for the sound design of Electra by Hugo von Hofmannsthal.

He was awarded the Premio Davide di Donatello 2011 for the original musics of the film Noi credevamo by Mario Martone.

He teaches Sound Design at the Art Academy of Brera (Milan) since 2006.
